California Proposition 65

California's Proposition 65 entitles California consumers to special warnings for products that contain chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm if those products expose consumers to such chemicals above certain threshold levels.

The State of California has unique labeling requirements for products that contain certain chemicals. These chemicals are listed, under rules of the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (otherwise known as Proposition 65), as being known to cause cancer and/or reproductive toxicity. If chemicals on this list are in products sold in California, the product label is required to provide clear and reasonable warning to that effect. The Act exempts products that do not pose a “significant risk” from the labeling requirement and only applies to those activities or products offered for sale within California. Only businesses with 10 or more employees must comply with Proposition 65. As described above, “significant risk” may be debatable to some. As a result, the warnings are applied to all products.

WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
