There are many simple ways to keep your water bottle clean. Rinsing your water bottle thoroughly after each use and letting it dry off is the easiest and best way to keep the water bottle clean. If you need a more thorough clean, you can use a small amount of baking soda, vinegar, or unscented soap (please do not combine the ingredients). Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse it clean with running water.
For more information on how to care for your products, you can visit our Care & Use page.
Most plastic water bottles and water containers are usually marked with a number on the bottom. This is commonly known as recycling symbol or recycling code. The recycling numbers can range from #1 to #7, depending on the type of plastic. This number system is to help facilitate recycling programs across the country.
As for the #7, it is a catch-all indicator also known as "Others" that does not fall within the #1-#6 category. The #7 category includes new plastic resins (including Eastman Tritan), co-polymers, organic compostable material and many other types of plastic that simply do not fall into the other number categories. Please note that the #7 category do include plastic that are BPA free, such as the plastic materials just listed.
For more information about plastics and their recycle codes, please visit our Plastic Recycle Codes page.
There is no "best" water bottle plastic simply based on the recycling code. The recycling code is a classification system used to help facilitate recycling programs and is not a rating system.
Think of the recycling codes as similar to the classification of car types. SUV, trucks, coupes, sedans - different vehicles are classified into different category types. In many ways, plastic is the same way. Each plastic has its strengths and weaknesses depending on their usage and is then classified into different # codes. Please keep in mind that all food grade plastic products in their number codes are safe for their intended use.

Buying a water bottle should be a simple choice. However often times, that's not the case. With so many different water bottles out there, it can be difficult for consumers to determine which products are truly reusable and safe.
We have been in the industry for a long time and we have seen it all. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, which is why there have been similar looking water bottles over the years - yet none of them can match what is and remains Bluewave water bottles. It may look the same to the naked eye, but the quality, material composition, and components can be very different. Simply put, the overall quality and safety can be as different as day and night.
There are many similar bottles made out PET/PETE #1 plastic (usually made for one-time-use soda bottles/bottled water) or PVC #3 plastic. While these bottles are "BPA Free", they are not truly designed for re-use or long term storage. In fact, PVC plastic contains phthalates in the material composition!
We believe in making safe, quality, food-grade products that customers can use and re-use. We work with the industry's best companies to source the top materials, and with our own production lines, we are able to maintain top quality from start to finish. We only use the industry's safest, virgin (not recycled or used scrap) materials to manufacture our products.

While our plastic water bottles can withstand very hot liquid, we generally do not recommend using plastic water bottles with hot liquid. Please do not pour hot liquid/boiling water into the bottle.
